Reviews

"An indispensable addition to any harp lover's library, Lauren Scott's Sea of Stars is a splendid sequel to her debut outing Beyond the Horizon. Amplifying its appeal, Sea of Stars not only showcases Scott's prowess as a performer and arranger but as a composer too when the release features her own exquisite originals alongside ones by Grace Evangeline Mason, Rudiger Opperman, and Monika Stadler. Add to that treatments of material by Ravel and J. S. Bach and two beloved traditionals and the result is a must-have for any harp aficionado."  Textura - link to full review HERE
“Think you know the harp? Think again. Scott uses both pedal and lever harps for this set of works, including standout ones she composed herself. She is joined by three other harpists for The Sun and Her Flowers, while the likes of Monika Stadler's No One Can Stop Me Now features prepared pedal harp. The results are somewhat revelatory; beautiful, raw, and rhythmic.”  BBC Music Magazine ★★★★★
Sea of Stars is a joyous exaltation. Her radiant tone, exacting technique, and boundless imagination prove ideal for this breathtaking collection" Harp Column 10/10  Click HERE to see the whole review
"Pre-eminently thoughtful and compelling, she draws sounds of deep soulfulness and will-o-the-wisp rustlings. Her Lever Harp sings sweetly and the recording is beautifully judged."  BBC Music Magazine
"I think you're going to like this album... rather fabulous it is, too"  Simon Mayo - Scala Radio Album of the Week
"Simply beautiful sounds... an entrancing new disc. The ringing strings blossom into a kaleidoscope of color." HARP COLUMN
"What a stunning display of colors Scott creates!" American Record Guide
"When Scott began playing the folk harp, composing her own music came like a 'shot out of the blue', and we are the beneficiaries of a raft of delightful original works." HARP COLUMN Click here to see whole review
"Scott makes ingenious use of effects, most notably that of vibrato, to lend sonorous expressivity to the repeated motives. Her music is open, expressive and filmic and a real hit with audiences. Highly recommended." Alexander Rider for HARP magazine  Click here to see the whole review
"This next book is one to put on your wish list for Santa. Adventures for Lever Harp Book 1 is a delightful new book of original solos... For those who play or teach lever harp, these entertaining and innovative pieces are a welcome addition to the repertoire, and audiences should find these tunes interesting and engaging."   Jan Jennings for Harp Column Magazine  Click here to see whole review
"This is a brilliant collection of original compositions for the lever harp... a wonderful addition to anyone's lever harp music collection, leading away from the cliched music and I highly recommend it."  Monika Stadler for Harp Magazine    Click here to see whole review
“Fun, festive, and fabulous! These are unique and exciting additions to the lever harp repertoire and are equally as rewarding to play as they are to teach!”  Kirsten Agresta Copely
"The music is wonderful, really varied and fun"   Elizabeth Volpé Bligh
“A funky repertoire addition for intermediate to advanced lever harpists. I defy anyone not to smile while performing these pieces. They are a great way to master syncopation and percussive techniques within sophisticated, beautifully written pieces”. Keziah Thomas
"I have enjoyed these pieces for many reasons, but mostly for their very catchy tunes with lots of groove and their so very well placed extended techniques! Each piece is musically satisfying and fun to play. They are programmatic and will be very accessible to an audience of non-musicians and musicians alike."  Review by Michelle Velvin and Becky Swan for The Harp Society of New Zealand   Click here to see whole review
"We don't often find an intermediate to advanced book for lever harp, so I was excited to see this publication. This collection is ideal for professionals, or for the advanced student. I plan to use one or two of the selections for my annual recital."  Review by Denise Grupp-Vernon for Folk Harp Journal   Click here to see whole review
Lauren Scott returns with her third volume of utterly vibrant solos for lever harp. Both harmonically and melodically engaging and perfectly conceived for the harp, Lauren's books really are a treasure trove... Each volume of Adventures for Lever Harp is a fantastic investment in your repertoire, and the pieces make an unforgettable addition to any concert.  HARP MAGAZINE
Lauren gave an absolutely unforgettable recital of music on lever harp. Playing largely her own original music and arrangements, Lauren's variety of touch, the sheer quality and quantity of tone she drew from her instrument were all totally spellbinding. A performer truly in her element. HARP MAGAZINE (review of concert at Harp on Wight Festival)
Review of MIDNIGHT TANGO - a collection of five pieces for solo harp
These latest offerings from Lauren Scott are devised (and work beautifully) for both lever and pedal harp. Each short piece, of beginner to intermediate standard, approaches a particular aspect of harp technique which, handily for us, makes them terrific teaching material. Lauren's music is as always colourful and beautifully descriptive.
